I think the crossover is that it is served in an Asian bao - the bread is supposed to be the sole thing that is Asian and the filling is supposed to be distinctly not Asian, namely a Philly cheesesteak (Which agreed...not quite the real deal). Don't think a Philly cheesesteak would be a Philly cheesesteak if flavored with Asian spices.
