I made the gin rickey drink recipe on the package & thought it was just OK. But then I improvised and made a drink from Domaine de Canton French Ginger Liqueur + the spicy bitters from this package + some fresh lemon juice + some mild flavored fizzy water (cucumber Spindrift). Oh. My. God. Delicious!!! It's probably mostly used as a preservative to keep the flavors clean and fresh.<br /><br />I haven't tried these but I have used other fruit-flavored bitters on fresh fruit. We made a simple syrup with lime bitters and drizzled it over strawberries this summer. The contrast was delicious, kind of in the same way as balsamic vinegar over berries.
